“I have been an IKB Governor since the school opened in 2020 and became Chair of Governors shortly after. This is a role I take very seriously, and having been a Governor at Court Fields for 8 years, I understand how important a childs’ primary education is to their success at secondary school. I have lived in Wellington for 13 years and I am the Chief Customer Officer at the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office in Taunton.” Lisa Denson, Chair of Governors
“I became a Governor at IKB to help shape the direction of my local school and was inspired to take action after seeing that less than 10% of School Governors are under age 40. I am a passionate advocate of STEM and I head up the Scientific Analysis Group at the UK Hydrographic Office. I am also furthering my leadership and strategy experience by studying for an MBA at Exeter University.” Amy Northern, Vice Chair of Governors
“Before moving to Somerset, I was Chair of Governors and SEND Governor at a very large Secondary School on the London Essex borders for 13 years. I believe in fully inclusive education for all and am really looking forward to my time at IKB, I have been a Governor here for just over a year and feel that I am part of a very good team.” Bob Pamplin, Community Governor
“Our son joined IKB in reception when the school opened in 2020. I was keen to be part of the school community and help shape the direction the school was heading so was delighted to be accepted as a parent governor. I have worked in safeguarding, supporting children and families through Early Help for the past 15 years. I am passionate about early identification of need which is also a key priority of the school. I am pleased to be able to bring my knowledge of safeguarding to my governor role.” Philippa Small, Community Governor
“When IKB first opened, I was delighted to be given the chance to be part of the governing board. I am a qualified primary teacher and have worked in education for over ten years. As the English Co-ordinator in my current teaching role, I have a real passion for children reading and aim to support the Trust as best I can with their mission of transforming every child into a reader. I have previously been part of a governance for another local school, so I hope to bring my knowledge and experience to ensure IKB continues to provide outstanding education for every child.” Aaron Warren, Community Governor
“I feel honoured that I able to use my skills and expertise to continue IKB’s success by volunteering as a governor. I previously trained as a primary school teacher before moving into higher education. I am passionate about ensuring all children are equipped with the right skills for a life-long learning journey, as well as the aspiration to progress and fulfil their potential. In my day-to-day work, I support individual university students from a range of backgrounds and manage library analytics projects, ensuring both student voice and data-driven decision making shape education quality, something I believe is vital in all schools, colleges, and universities. I am thrilled that I can contribute to guaranteeing IKB remains a great school for my own and others’ children.” Phil Barraclough, Community Governor
“I am very excited to join the Board of Governors at IKB. Being on the teaching team, I am eager to contribute to the continued success and growth of our school from a different, governing perspective. I am passionate about creating an educational environment where children belong, achieve and are able to participate.” Kieran Park, Staff Governor
I feel a primary school is the fundamental bedrock in which a child will develop, learn and thrive within the education system. With this in mind I wanted to ensure our school was as good as it could be! I want to support initiatives and drive ideas to help all of our children reach their full potential!
Lewis Hanney, Parent Governor
From my role as Head of Maths at Court Field School, I have closely followed the growth of IKB since it opened in 2020. I was very fortunate to undertake some volunteering work with IKB's reception class in 2023 and got to see first hand the amazing work that is taking place within the school. I very much want to support the staff, pupils and parents at IKB, through the start of their education journey, which hopefully will lead them on to enrolling at Court Fields. I have twenty years experience of working with teenagers in a secondary school setting, and I would now like to gain a greater understanding of what happens in school for the younger ones!
Nat Smith, Community Governor
My family joined the IKB community in 2021 when our first child started at the Bright Sparks Nursery. I am an experienced school leader and serving secondary Headteacher who works to promote the very best outcomes for all children but particularly those coming from more challenging backgrounds. I look forward to working alongside IKB and their commitment to ensure that all children have an outstanding education
